How to register for DojoCert, field by field

How to register for DojoCert, field by field

DojoCert is the official card for martial arts athletes, whatever the discipline, the club or the level. Registration takes a few minutes on your phone. Here is how it works, and above all why we ask for each piece of information, so you know what it is for before you give it.

Registration has four steps: your phone, the verification, your information, then your card. It starts with your WhatsApp number. We send you a code on WhatsApp to check that the number is really yours. This is what guarantees that every card belongs to a real person and that nobody can sign up in your name. One number can register several children (it is then the parent's or tutor's number), but only one adult.

First name and last name. These are the names on your card. Write them as they appear on your ID: that is what gives a certified card its value. For adults, the first and last name appear on the public card; for minors, only the first name and the initial of the last name.

Nickname (optional). The name the community knows you by, for example "The Tiger". It is optional, but it makes your card more alive, and it is one of the fields required for DojoCert+.

E-mail (optional). We use it to contact you and, in the future, to send you our newsletter if you want it. It is never shown publicly.

Date of birth, gender. These are used to work out your age, to place you in the right category for competitions and gradings, and to adapt registration if you are a minor. Your date of birth is never public: only your age appears on the card.

City, country of residence, nationality. They help us organise events near you and see where the athletes of the community come from, including those who live abroad. They are never shown publicly.

Main sport, second sport, other sport. One sport is required, the other two are optional. Your sports appear on your card. They let us suggest the right classes, events and competitions. Choose a different sport on each line.

Club and coach (optional). Tell us where you train and with whom. This connects athletes with their club and their coach, and the coach is one of the fields required for DojoCert+.

Your role. Athlete (you train), Coach + Athlete (you train and you coach), or Coach (you coach without actively practising). The role is shown on your card and lets us tell athletes and coaches apart.

Combat sport (if you practise one). The form may ask whether you accept sparring offers, your current weight, your competition weight and whether you have already taken part in professional combat competitions. All of it is optional. It helps organise fair, safe bouts between athletes of a similar size and level.

Social networks (optional). You can paste the full link of your Instagram, Facebook, YouTube or TikTok account. They are not shown publicly on the card. We use them to get to know you and to showcase the athletes of the community, and at least one network is required for DojoCert+.

Emergency contact (optional). The name and phone number of someone to call in case of injury or illness during a class. It is a matter of safety: if something happens, we know who to call right away. This information is never public.

Public directory. The "Appear in the public directory" box is ticked by default. It puts your card in the directory of certified athletes, where people see your first name, your initial, your photo, your sports and your club. Untick it if you prefer to stay out of the directory: you keep your card, it is simply not listed.

Newsletter (optional). Tick it to receive DojoLand news and events. It needs an e-mail address, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Profile photo (optional). A photo where your face is clearly visible, which you can crop before sending it. It makes the card recognisable and lets us check your identity when a DojoCert+ card is handed over. For a minor, the photo is never shown publicly: an illustration is used instead, and the photo is only used internally.

If the athlete is under 18. The form asks for the name and phone number of a parent or legal guardian, and for their confirmation that they know about the registration and agree. Depending on age, the parent fills in the form or the teenager does, but in both cases the parent or tutor must be aware.

The final box. You accept the terms of participation and the privacy policy, and you confirm that your information is accurate. Both documents are one click away from the box; take a minute to read them. Without this box, registration cannot be completed.

Once your registration is confirmed, your DojoCert card appears with its certification number and a QR code. Anyone who scans it can check that the card is genuine: that is the meaning of "Scan it, it's official". You can download it and keep it on your phone.

What about DojoCert+? DojoCert is the official recognition, with access to events and the DojoLand community. DojoCert+ is a verified status: our team reviews your file, then invites you to the academy to check your identity and hand you a physical card, with priority access to events. To apply, just fill in every field of the form: nickname, e-mail, coach, emergency contact, at least one social network and at least one sport.

Is something wrong or has it changed? Nothing is final. At the bottom of the DojoCert page, the "Update my information" form lets you ask for a correction; you can also write to us at info@dojo-land.com or on WhatsApp. Your phone number, e-mail, date of birth, city, emergency contacts and social networks are never shown publicly.

Ready? Go to the DojoCert page, enter your WhatsApp number, and your card will be ready in a few minutes. Zero strangers on the tatami.
