Which martial art should you choose in Cotonou?

Which martial art should you choose in Cotonou?

It depends on your goal. For a child's discipline and confidence: judo, karate, taekwondo. For fast results on fitness: boxing. To learn to control someone who resists: jiu-jitsu. For coordination and creativity: parkour, wushu, dance. The best way to choose is to try a class at one of our locations in Cotonou: the first training is free, to be booked in advance with the manager.

Not sure? Our 8-question quiz suggests two or three disciplines that fit your age, your goal and your availability.

Disciplines taught at DojoLand

Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Kickboxing and Muay Thaï, MMA, Wushu KungFu, Parkour/Acrobatics, Dance and Total Body, at Fidjrossè and Akpakpa. Class times are on the Programme page.

For a child

From age 5. Combat disciplines (judo, karate, taekwondo) build discipline, focus and confidence. Parkour, wushu and dance build coordination, creativity and body control. Each age group has its own pace and dedicated coaches.

For self-defence: boxing or jiu-jitsu?

Choose boxing for fast results on fitness and a way to stop a threat while staying on your feet. Choose jiu-jitsu to learn to control someone who resists without relying on brute strength. In both cases, awareness and self-confidence remain the core of self-defence.

For fitness

Bodyweight-based martial arts training is enough for most people to build real fitness, muscle and strength, along with a mental discipline a regular gym does not offer.

Is it too late as an adult?

No. Many of our adult athletes started with no experience at all. Classes adapt to every level.

How much does it cost?

From 8,500 FCFA a month with a 12-month commitment. Details: how much a martial arts gym costs in Cotonou.
